Having
too much free time alone is sad, because my thoughts will wander back to the
days spent on the most beautiful island in the world. It is called The Pearl of
the Orient, and no wonder at that, because amidst the hectic city life, there
still remains a part of the land untouched by development, retaining its
original beauty.
I have
resort to writing lately whenever I feel sad. Writing is therapeutic to me, it
seems, when I have nowhere else to vent off some of my feelings. Home has
always been a strong attraction, and it sounds funny when I used to want to run
away from it. I was young, dreaming of an independent life alone with no
strings attached, but reality set in, and I realized what I needed most was my
family’s love.
The
winter holidays have ended, drawn to a close, as every beginning must have an
end. I have wonderful memories of that spring, because I was at home again. It
seems weird to think that I have left home a long time, when in fact it was
only two weeks ago. Life settled down into its original state, and the circle
continues again.
You
had your job and future to think of; I have my dreams and hopes to pursue. Time
and again I have asked myself, are we really meant to be? I am of a cautious
nature, taking it slow and steady every step of the way. But you took me by the
hand and led me towards the sky, and I am afraid of falling once again to the
ground. To this day I have never told you and never admitted to myself, that I
love you. Maybe it’s because we used to be such good friends, maybe it’s
because I am not sure of my feelings, or maybe it’s because I am afraid to put too
much of myself into your hands.
Writing
letters home helped ease some of the pain. My days here were getting much more
bearable, but there were times when I longed for home again, for me in my
familiar surroundings, and I laughed at myself when I once thought studying
abroad was the best thing that could ever happen to a person.
But
you have taught me to face challenges with a brave heart, did you not? And good
student that I was, I learned your lesson well. To this day I am glad we met,
because without your teachings I would never have survived so long. So worry
not about me, I will be fine. I will come home with success in my bag, and you
will be proud of my achievements.
