Time and unsaid regrets

Some things are better left unsaid...

A budding flower,
A growing shoot,
To watch it live,
To hope it grow,
The anticipation,
Better than any end.

Winter,
A time for rest.
It is nearing an end,
Spring is near.
But it is Winter still,
And many still sleeps.

The little shoot sleeps on,
Peacefully covered by snow.
He knows not the thunderstorms of the land,
And his dreams are covered in sunshine.
His mother holds him gently,
And he knew that he is safe.

As the wind changes,
His white blanket grew thinner,
He will not need them until the next cycle.
Jack is leaving to another part of the world.
And as Jack bid adieu, Sky began to cry.
Her teardrops awaken the little shoot,
And he took in her tears hungrily,
As only a newborn knows how.

He began to grow taller,
His head poke through,
He got his first glimpse of the world.
Lovely Spring has come,
Bringing along beauty and life with her.
Her gentle hands shook many to wake,
To dance and laugh with her.
And he fell in love with her.

To go after such beauty,
Little shoot vow to grow strong and tall.
Reaching out for sunshine,
Searching under for water,
His efforts paid off.
He is now, a young tree.
But Spring has a secret she cannot tell.
Her blessed beauty angered the wrath of lords,
And cursed with a short life.
Too soon, she must leave.

In her place Summer took,
Striking as ever, but with a fiery temper.
Young tree caught her eye,
And she save for him
The brightest sunshine,
The sweetest raindrops,
Only to hope a smile from him.

His shoulders had became broader,
Wide enough to hold nests for the little ones.
All around him little families were matching up,
And his loneliness grew when he looked at them.
He is in full bloom,
But the dreams he once had of giving to Spring,
Faded and withered into nothingness,
And his blossoms slowly floated to the ground.

Summer's efforts were fruitless.
In anger she depart, leaving her sister behind.
Pale in comparison with Summer,
Autumn had a gentler temper, albeit not much beauty.
Slowly she mend the scars of his broken heart,
He heal and flourish under her care.

A stranger walk the lands,
His name is Disease.
He strike down many, including young tree.
Dear, sweet Autumn nursed young tree,
Many a day and night.
By degrees, young tree's health regain,
And her gentleness struck his heart.

He waited for the perfect moment,
Asking for her hand to make him happy.
But he waited too long,
And one day she is gone.
No note, no explanation.
Jack Frost had returned to claim his title.
Too depress, young tree slowly lose his leaves.

His father came to the rescue.
Holding an hourglass in one hand,
Father Time showed young tree the circle of life.
Time is a one-way journey,
With no return ticket.
To live with no regrets is an art,
And not many succeed in that.

Hold on to time,
More precious than diamonds.
But there are things that are prettier
When you enjoy the journey heading towards it.
Perhaps there are those things that are
Better left unsaid.
